BIK score

Definition. The BIK score is a point-based creditworthiness rating BIK assigns based on your credit history. Scale: 192–631 points. Higher score = lower risk for the bank = easier approval and better terms. The current model is BIKScore 3.0 (from 2015).

The scoring model weighs several factors. Payment punctuality (about 35% weight): every 30+ day delay pulls it down, every on-time instalment pushes up. Limit utilisation (25%): if your credit card has a 5 000 PLN limit and you regularly carry a 4 500 PLN balance, the score suffers. Length of history (15%): an old loan repaid on time for 8 years weighs more than a fresh contract signed last month. Product mix (10%): variety (cash loan + card + mortgage) beats a wall of payday loans. New inquiries (10%): every hard pull in the last 30 days drops the score by 3–5 points.

Bank thresholds in 2026. Above 500: doors open at every bank, room to negotiate. 480–500: approved at most banks but without the best rates. 400–480: usually only the online banks (mBank, ING) with worse margins. 350–400: banks decline, but KNF-registered lenders (Smartney, Aasa, SuperGrosz) approve. Below 350: only payday loans and non-bank loans with high RRSO.

Lifting the score is a 6–12 month process, not overnight. On-time repayments of every instalment for half a year usually add 30–50 points. Closing a heavily-used credit card — 20–40 points within a month. Removing an incorrect delay entry (bank error) — dozens of points immediately. None of this works in a week; the bank looks at 12 months of history, not the current snapshot.

Frequently asked questions

What score do I have after my first loan?+

On-time payment of the first instalment of your first loan usually puts you around 500–540 after 6 months. Without history there is no score — you are an „unknown" to the bank.

Does a payday loan wreck the score?+

A payday loan by itself — no. A payday loan 30+ days late — yes, strongly. Several active payday loans at once (5+) — also yes, the model reads it as trouble.
