Credit card with cashback: which one really pays off

„Cashback up to 1 200 PLN” sounds like a gift, but every bank tucks the conditions into the fine print: minimum spend, activity period, monthly fee after year one. Here I count what you actually earn from each card after subtracting cost, and which cards make sense for different spending profiles.

Representative values · verify with the lender

Citi Simplicity: 1 200 PLN cashback, with strings

Citi advertises up to 1 200 PLN cashback on Simplicity. Conditions: income proof (PIT, employment contract), minimum 300 PLN monthly spend for 12 months. Annual fee 0 PLN. RRSO 19.01%. You realistically earn 1 200 PLN if over a year you spend at least 3 600 PLN on the card and settle every interest-free period on time. Slip once and interest eats the cashback.

Santander Visa Bonus: 640 PLN guaranteed

Santander offers 640 PLN guaranteed bonus on Visa Bonus. Easier condition than Citi: activate the card, spend 200 PLN in the first 60 days. The safest setup, since the bonus lands right away, not after a year. Monthly fee of 5 PLN disappears with active use (transactions over 600 PLN per month).

Pekao Żubr Standard: unconditionally free

The Żubr credit card is one of three unconditionally free cards in Poland in 2026 (alongside Revolut Standard and UniCredit). No annual fee, no monthly conditions. Cashback isn't advertised, but periodic category promos (fuel, groceries, e-commerce) deliver 1-3% back in practice. A card for people who want a backup credit without a fixed cost burden.

Visa TurboKARTA: activity buys it free

A card with a 12 PLN monthly fee that disappears after one transaction of 1 000 PLN. Cashback of 0.5-1% on most transactions, plus 5% on promo categories (rotating quarterly). Makes sense for people spending at least 1 200-1 500 PLN per month on the card. Then truly zero cost plus a small cashback.

My take: which card for whom

High spend (above 2 000 PLN per month on the card), stable employment, on-time settlement, go for Citi Simplicity with the highest potential return. Mid spend, want a guaranteed 640 PLN fast, pick Santander Visa Bonus. Low or uneven spend, credit as a safety net, that's Pekao Żubr without the fixed-cost risk. Visa TurboKARTA only if you reliably spend 1 200 PLN per month on the card, otherwise the fee eats the cashback.
