Banks with the full remote path
mBank, ING Bank Śląski, Santander Bank Polska and Alior Bank handle a cash-loan application 100% remotely, from app to contract signing. PKO BP requires video verification for amounts above 50 000 PLN. Pekao SA handles via the app up to 30 000 PLN, above that it suggests a branch visit. Citi Handlowy and BNP Paribas: full remote, but with a 1 PLN verification transfer from your account.
How the bank verifies you remotely
Three main methods: a 1 PLN or 1-grosz verification transfer from your account at another bank (identity check), a webcam video verification with an advisor (for higher amounts), profil zaufany or e-dowód (the newest option, accepted by every major bank since 2024). Each method replaces a branch visit.
Decision and payout time
mBank: decision in 15 minutes, payout the same working day. ING: decision in 20 minutes, payout within 1 hour. Santander: decision up to 60 minutes, payout next day (overnight processing). Alior: decision in 30 minutes, payout the same working day. PKO BP and Pekao SA: decision up to 24 hours, payout next day. Digital banks (mBank, ING) run faster than traditional ones (PKO, Pekao).
Documents needed online
ID card (scan of both sides). PESEL. Account number at another bank for verification. Income declaration (online form). Consent to a BIK check. At most banks that's all. An employment certificate is asked only for amounts above 50 000 PLN or with irregular income. PIT returns are required only for self-employment.
My take: which bank for whom
An mBank or ING client with an active personal account, the loan at your own bank, fastest. A client without an account at any major bank, Alior Bank or Santander with a broad new-customer offer. A client above 50 000 PLN, PKO BP or Pekao with video verification (more paperwork, but a lower RRSO). Every other scenario: three applications at three banks in parallel, BIK records that as a single mark within 30 days.
