Provident Polska

The oldest large non-bank lender in Poland, active since 1997, on the KNF Register of Lending Institutions. Provident specialises in the classic instalment-loan model with a „home adviser" — a firm employee visits the client's home, hands over the money, collects payments. A traditional model, still preferred by older clients and small-town residents.

Active since: 1997 · Non-bank lender (KNF register)

Character of the lender

Provident runs two channels: classic (home visits, weekly cash payments, paper contracts) and online (application on provident.pl, bank transfer, monthly payments). The classic channel handles about 40% of the portfolio, mostly clients aged 50+ and residents of towns under 50 000 people.

Key difference: a Provident loan with home service has a higher RRSO (45–70%) than online (29–45%). The extra fee for adviser service covers their time and travel. Clients pick the classic channel for convenience (no leaving home, cash payments) or lack of a bank account.

After the 2015 and 2022 anti-usury amendments Provident shrank its portfolio by tens of percent — the traditional model has become harder to keep profitable. Even so, Provident remains the most recognised brand in Polish non-bank lending.

Fits well for

  • Clients who value the classic model — home visit, cash, weekly payments
  • People without a bank account (home-service Provident accepts)
  • Clients who prefer a simple contract without a complex online process

Not for

  • Anyone hunting the lowest RRSO — Smartney and online competition is cheaper
  • Clients who value a fully digital experience without visits
  • Clients with 3+ active payday loans — Provident usually declines
